Numbers in Baseball: How Numbers Change Our Perception of Baseball

There will be a number of reproduction and authentic items spanning a period from about 1800 to the 1930’s.  The audience will be allowed to have hands on contact with these items as well as dealing with:

  • Scoring in 1860;
  • The equipment used in 1860;
  • The way outs were made and scored;
  • Changes the way the game was played;
  • Sportsmanship in 1860;  
  • Rules interpretations by Umpires and players.

Participants will learn 1860 base ball through demonstrations, videos, opportunities to score using 1860 scoring techniques and questions.

Scoresheets and rules of 1860 will be provided.

Question/Answer session follows.
